JAY Z MIGHT BE RIGHT ON, BUT IT’S NOT LIKE RAP’S GONE GAY Welp, I guess congratulations are in order to Jay-Z for backing his bro Obama up in the whole gay marriage furore. Jigga joins the other brave little soldiers in rap today making totally non-committal declarations on their stance on homophobia. Courageous statements in the vein of “gay is just great as long as it’s all kept indoors”. A$AP Rocky did something similar, coining it ‘sexual racism’, before going on to stress the importance of lesbianism…sexy, sexy lesbianism. True say, it’s nothing to sniff at; what would once have been career suicide, is now just another funzie pre-requisite of the modern, well-rounded MC… tolerance is OK now guyz! WE’RE HOSTING THE OFFICIAL ODD FUTURE AFTER PARTY This month in London is a big one. Not only is there the usual talent filled line-up at the issue launch – including O.Children and Tobi O’Kandi with support from PAWS, Salt and VICE DJs – but immediately afterwards Odd Future will be joining us for their official after show party. Syd The Kyd will be doing a DJ set along with some mysterious and very special guests. All of this is happening at our pub, the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch, on Thursday (29th March) and is completely FREE to go to. Find out about our issue launch parties around the UK here.

A WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH GUY WROTE US SOME MUSIC REVIEWS After Westboro Baptist Church’s big Radiohead protest last week, we talked tunes with the church’s marketing guy, Steve “God Hates Fags” Drain. We realised early on in our chat that Drain was like the Alex Ross of the religious right – his music sensibility was surprisingly discerning. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tap into some of his divine music criticism and share it with all of you. So, we sent him a few links to some of our favourite new music videos and asked him to evaluate these morally repugnant songs on spiritual and musical grounds. He had the awesome idea of rating the tracks with a nifty picket sign scale, one picket sign being the least morally bankrupt and five picket signs being the absolute worst.
